Year 1 have had a super week and have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in Career Week. The children loved learning about a variety of different careers and finding out about the many opportunities available to them in the future.
A highlight of the week was welcoming special visitors into school. The children were fascinated to hear from Colleen, who spoke about her work in the antiques industry, and Jo, who shared her experiences working in journalism. Both visitors inspired the children and gave them a valuable insight into their professions. They also enjoyed hearing about the volunteers from Daft As A Brush and all the things the charity does to support people.
This week, they also took part in an exciting session with the PE Service, where they developed their multi-skills through a range of fun and engaging activities. The children showed great enthusiasm and teamwork throughout.
In their lessons, Year 1 have also been busy exploring fractions in Maths and learning about the North East in Geography. They have enjoyed building their knowledge and making links between their learning and the world around them.
They were all AMAZING superstars, taking part in their Year 1 Phonics Quiz where they made Mrs Summersby so proud of all their hard work!
It has been a wonderful week of learning, exploration and inspiration and Year 1 have loved every minute of it!
