Year 1 have had a wonderfully busy and productive couple of weeks, filled with creativity, exploration, and learning across the curriculum.
In Maths, the children have been working hard to understand length. They explored how to compare objects by identifying which are longer or shorter and enjoyed measuring using non-standard methods, developing their practical skills along the way.
In English, the class was inspired by their new text Lubna and Pebble. Just like Lubna, the children created their own “pebble pals” and designed imaginative homes for them. It was a fantastic opportunity to combine storytelling with creativity, and the results were truly delightful.
In DT, the children have been busy designing and making sliders. They loved exploring how mechanisms work and took great pride in creating their own moving designs.
The children also embraced the spirit of the season by making beautiful Easter cards for their families. Alongside this, they continued to explore scripture, deepening their understanding of the Easter story and its meaning. They were also very reflective when taking part in the Stations of the Cross, showing maturity and respect as they engaged with this important tradition.
After such a busy and rewarding time, Year 1 are now looking forward to a well-deserved and restful Easter break!
