What another fantastic week we have had in Year 5! The children have been working incredibly hard across all areas of the curriculum and have shown great enthusiasm, curiosity and resilience throughout the week.
One of our highlights has been our work on direct speech. The children have been learning how to use speech marks and the correct punctuation when writing conversations. To help us remember the different punctuation rules, we have been using our memorable “cheese and pickle sandwiches”! This fun strategy has certainly helped to make the rules easier to remember, and it has been wonderful to see the children applying their learning in their writing with increasing confidence.
We also enjoyed a lovely class celebration of the word on the theme “creation”. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the meaning of the word and think about the many different ways we can interpret and celebrate creation.
Science has also been a real highlight this week. We have been carrying out some exciting experiments linked to air resistance, making predictions, testing ideas and observing what happened.
We have also had a great time in PE, where we developed our netball skills. The children worked on passing, moving into space and working effectively as part of a team. It was fantastic to see so much encouragement and teamwork, with everyone giving their best and supporting one another.
