Year 1 have had a wonderful week back after the half-term break and have settled quickly into their learning.
In Maths, the children have continued their work on equal groups and have enjoyed a range of practical activities to help consolidate their understanding. They have shown great enthusiasm as they explored this concept through hands-on learning experiences.
In English, the children have been exploring the different settings visited by Georgie, the main character in The Magic Bed, our current focus text. They used their phonic knowledge to think of possible passwords for the magical bed and then applied expanded noun phrases to create vivid descriptions of the exciting settings Georgie discovers during the night.
During PE lessons, the children have been developing their fundamental movement skills, demonstrating excellent effort and determination.
In Geography, they have been learning about the four countries of the United Kingdom and have enjoyed researching key facts and creating informative fact sheets.
In RE, the children listened to the story of Levi and reflected on the support and kindness shown by Jesus. They then wrote thoughtful letters to Jesus, expressing their gratitude and sharing what they are thankful for.
It has been a fantastic start to the half term, and we are very proud of all the hard work and enthusiasm Year 1 have shown this week.
