This week in English, the children have been developing their understanding of non-chronological reports. They began by carrying out research, reading information and identifying important facts about their chosen subject. The children then used their research to plan their own reports, thinking carefully about how to organise information into clear sections. They worked on creating engaging titles, writing informative introductions and choosing appropriate headings and subheadings to help structure their writing. Discussions also focused on the features of non-chronological reports and how these help the reader to find information easily.

In handwriting lessons, the children have continued to practise their letter formation, focusing on forming letters correctly, starting and finishing letters in the right place, and ensuring they are sized appropriately. They have worked hard to improve the presentation of their writing by paying attention to consistent spacing, neatness and posture when writing. These skills are helping the children to develop greater confidence and fluency in their written work across the curriculum.

Well done to all the children for their hard work and enthusiasm this week. They have shown great focus during their research and planning and are excited to use their plans to write their completed non-chronological reports next week. We look forward to seeing their ideas come to life in their final pieces of writing.
