A Fun-Filled Week in Year 1! 🌼📚✨
Year 1 have had another wonderful week filled with lots of exciting learning and fun!
In RE, the children have come to the end of Branch 1, Creation and Covenant. To celebrate their learning, they put the message of Laudato Si’ into action by thinking about how they can care for God’s wonderful creation. The children loved repurposing old plastic bottles and transforming them into spring planters! They planted daffodil bulbs and are looking forward to watching them grow. What a fantastic way to show that even small actions can make a big difference to our world! 🌍🌱
In Maths, Year 1 have been busy developing their understanding of numbers by exploring fewer, more and less. They have also been learning how to compare numbers using the greater than (>), less than (<) and equal to (=) symbols. The children particularly enjoyed using practical resources to create their own number statements and demonstrate their understanding. 🔢
In English, the children have continued exploring the story Cave Baby. They have been busy sequencing the key events, thinking carefully about what happens at the beginning, middle and end of the story. This has helped them develop their storytelling skills as they prepare to write their very own retell of Cave Baby! We can't wait to see their wonderful writing! ✏️📖
There has also been lots of excitement around books and reading! The children loved dressing up as their favourite book characters and had a wonderful time exploring the Book Fair with their special friends in Year 6. It was lovely to see their enthusiasm for reading and the special friendships they continue to develop. 📚❤️
What a busy and enjoyable week in Year 1! We are so proud of the children's enthusiasm, creativity and fantastic attitude towards their learning! 🌟
