Year 6

Year 6 enjoyed revising their maths knowledge today by playing a range of dominoes-based games! The activities were a fun and engaging way to practise key skills, strengthen memory and revisit important concepts through teamwork and problem-solving. A fantastic way to make revision enjoyable while building confidence in maths!

Year 6 took part in a grammar revision challenge today, using their knowledge of word classes and the active and passive voice to compete in teams. This was a great way to deepen understanding, revise key concepts and develop communication skills by explaining meanings and ideas to others. Year 6 have enjoyed beginning to learn the skills needed to play Gaelic football today! The children practised a range of techniques, showing great enthusiasm, teamwork and determination as they developed their passing, movement and ball control skills. A fantastic start to learning a new sport!

Year 6 worked brilliantly in teams today to complete a mathematical treasure hunt! The children solved questions on a range of different maths concepts, with each correct answer leading them to the next clue. They have thoughtfully considered their own spiritual growth and created hands to take home, adding them to their growing sunflower. This morning, our Faith in Action team led the whole school in a meaningful worship as they guided us through the Stations of the Cross.

Year 6 have been taking time this Lent to reflect on how they can grow in love, kindness, patience and forgiveness. Building on the seeds they planted last week, they created beautiful hearts filled with ideas about the kind things they have done and the kind things they can do for others. Just like the seeds they planted, these small acts of kindness will continue to grow and make a difference in our school community.

Year 6 took part in their next RISE session where they explored the Zones of Regulation and discussed how different emotions can affect the way we think and behave. They began by revisiting the various exercises and strategies they have learned so far, such as breathing techniques, taking a mindful moment or using positive self-talk. For World Book Day this year, we invited all pupils to take part in a special competition inspired by The Places You’ll Go . Children were challenged to take a photograph of themselves reading in the most unusual place they could think of! Year 6 have had an exciting and inspiring day as part of Languages and Careers Week! The class explored different careers and learned about Pierce Kiembi and his role working in football . Pupils discovered how speaking multiple languages can be incredibly helpful for communicating with people from many different countries and backgrounds. Luke did an amazing job speaking to his Year 6 classmates about Chinese New Year! He shared lots of interesting traditions, showed videos of the celebrations, and explained how his own family celebrates. Year 6 had an exciting and inspiring visit to Nissan today, where they learned all about how cars are made. We explored how construction lines work and discovered the importance of teamwork and organisation in large-scale production. This week in Year 6 has been full of reflection and achievement. Our class worship group led us thoughtfully through our theme of service , linking it to the reading of The Washing of the Feet . Y6 have had great fun in French. They have been learning about their body and movements. All of this knowledge was put to the test when they had to complete a dance routine!

Y6 have enjoyed talking about 'sources' as part of their current RE topic. Today, they have worked in small groups to develop their understanding of how to find references using the Bible.
