World Book Day 2026-'The Places You'll Go' Competition
For World Book Day this year, we invited all pupils to take part in a special competition inspired by The Places You’ll Go . Children were challenged to take a photograph of themselves reading in the most unusual place they could think of! Year 5 have had a brilliant week. Our visit to Nissan was amazing and gave the children the opportunity to use their coding skills and see real-life robots in action. As part of our geography work, we were visited by a scientist specialising in solar energy, who helped us learn all about this important renewable resource. They have produced a wonderful range of handmade cards, decorations and festive wreaths, each one showing great imagination and attention to detail. Year 5 have had a wonderful week preparing for Christmas. They created their own calendars filled with good deeds to complete throughout Advent. A group of children in Year 5 led this week's Celebration of the Word. They chose to read scripture from John's Gospel - The Wedding at Cana. This linked to the theme of joy and with a beautiful hymn to end it was a lovely celebration. In English this week, we have continued our work based on the marvellous book 'The Lizzie and Belle Mystery'. The children have written character profiles with looks of fabulous vocabulary.

Monday 17th November 2025
As part of their work on Judaism, Year 5 created Mezuzahs as they have been learning about the importance of the Shema prayer.
