We have been working hard in Year 2 and have started lots of exciting new units in our learning. In English, we are focusing on the poem The Owl and the Pussy-cat. We have been reading the poem carefully, learning new vocabulary, and exploring the characters and events in the story. We have also been practising reading with expression and writing simple sentences inspired by the poem.

In RE, we have been exploring the Bible and learning that, as Christians, we believe the Bible is the Word of God. We have talked about how the Bible teaches Christians how to live and helps us to be the best we can be. We have listened to stories from the Bible and discussed what they teach us about kindness, love and helping others.

In Science, we have been investigating the difference between paper, card and wood. We have been sorting materials, describing their properties, and testing how strong and flexible they are. We have been learning to use scientific words such as hard, smooth and bendable to describe what we observe.

In Art, we started our unit on sculpture and really enjoyed creating decorative tiles. We experimented with different shapes, patterns and textures, and learned how to use tools safely to make our designs. We are very proud of our creative work.
