Year 3 had a fantastically creative afternoon making their pneumatic toy designs from their DT unit. We looked at how compressed air can be used to control a mechanism and designed and made toys aimed at 5 year old children. We loved our finished products!

Year 5 have been working hard in their Design and Technology (DT) lessons to create their own recipe for spaghetti Bolognese. Year 5 have had a brilliant end to a fantastic term. 🏴☠️ Ahoy there! Our Year 6 pirates had a fantastic day celebrating the end of their SATs! What a fantastic week Year 1 have had! In Computing, the children became digital storytellers during their Digital Imagery unit. They planned their own picture stories, took photographs and used Pic Collage to create exciting pages complete with captions. The children loved seeing their creative ideas come to life! In RE this week, Year 5 have been reflecting on how lives are transformed by the Holy Spirit. Each child chose a saint to research, exploring how their life was changed through faith and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The children then portrayed their saint’s journey pictorially in the style of traditional Traidcraft El Salvador crosses, creating some thoughtful and beautiful pieces of artwork.

Year 2 have had a fantastic week of learning. In Art, the children enjoyed experimenting with colour mixing, working brilliantly in pairs to explore how different colours can be combined to create new shades. In Gymnastics PE, they worked extremely hard practising their running and jumping skills, focusing on safely jumping onto the vaulting box, balancing with control, and performing confident jumps. The children showed excellent teamwork, determination, and enthusiasm.

Children in Year 3 led a beautiful class worship based on the story of Jesus and Zacchaeus. We thought about how desperate Zacchaeus was to see Jesus and the impact this had on his life. Our leaders asked us to think about ways that we could see Jesus more clearly so that we could make a change in our lives in the way Zacchaeus did. We hung out promises on a prayer tree.

Inspired by our English text, ‘Cloud Tea Monkeys’ by Mal Peet, Year 3 have been learning about the importance of Fair Trade and the impact it can have on the world’s tea trade. We are working towards writing a persuasive piece of writing encouraging people to buy Fair Trade products where possible. We are trying to use a variety of different types of sentences in our writing as well as including facts and opinions to strengthen our argument.

Year 3 led a beautiful class worship based on the story of Jesus and Zacchaeus. The children reflected on how desperate Zacchaeus was to see Jesus and the impact this had on his life. The worship leaders encouraged the class to think about ways they could see Jesus more clearly so that they too could make positive changes in their lives, just as Zacchaeus did. Everyone took part in a special Picture News assembly to celebrate Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday. Sir David Attenborough is an incredible natural historian who has inspired generations through his work exploring and protecting the natural world.
