Year 5 have had a wonderful week preparing for Christmas. They created their own calendars filled with good deeds to complete throughout Advent. We were also lucky enough to visit the Cathedral for carol singing, and then explore the Christmas markets for a French lesson — with some delicious crêpes to enjoy as well.

Year 1 have had a wonderful week and have thoroughly enjoyed practising their Nativity play! In English, the children have continued to explore The Snowman . They focused on using imperative verbs to give clear instructions on how to build a snowman. Year 1 shared a beautiful Celebration of the Word with their families today. They spoke about the season of Advent, which begins on Sunday, and reflected on its message of hope and preparation. The children retold the story of the Annunciation and shared their thoughtful Advent promises, showing how they hope to grow and help others during this special time. Year 1 were full of excitement this week as they began their brand-new English text! To spark their curiosity, the children followed a trail of clues to predict the theme of their book. Year 5 have had a wonderful week in school. They have enjoyed learning the hand jive in dance lessons and were fantastic movers. In English, they have updated their case notes and written some fantastic persuasive paragraphs. Today in PE, our Year 1 children practised their ball skills, with a special focus on sending and receiving. We talked about how to throw a ball carefully, how to roll it to a partner, and how to use “soft hands” when catching. The children worked in pairs and small groups, taking turns to roll, bounce, and gently throw the ball to each other. A group of children in Year 5 led this week's Celebration of the Word. They chose to read scripture from John's Gospel - The Wedding at Cana. This linked to the theme of joy and with a beautiful hymn to end it was a lovely celebration. In English this week, we have continued our work based on the marvellous book 'The Lizzie and Belle Mystery'. The children have written character profiles with looks of fabulous vocabulary.

Year 6 have been learning about the circulatory system in as part of their science topic this half term. Today they have learned about the heart in more detail. They have worked well to make their own model heart out of paper and labelled the parts.
