Year 5 have had a wonderful week preparing for Christmas. They created their own calendars filled with good deeds to complete throughout Advent. We were also lucky enough to visit the Cathedral for carol singing, and then explore the Christmas markets for a French lesson — with some delicious crêpes to enjoy as well.

Year 1 have had a wonderful week and have thoroughly enjoyed practising their Nativity play! In English, the children have continued to explore The Snowman . They focused on using imperative verbs to give clear instructions on how to build a snowman. In RE, they shared the story of the Visitation and spent time thinking about how Mary and Elizabeth might have been feeling. Year 1 shared a beautiful Celebration of the Word with their families today. They spoke about the season of Advent, which begins on Sunday, and reflected on its message of hope and preparation. The children retold the story of the Annunciation and shared their thoughtful Advent promises, showing how they hope to grow and help others during this special time. Year 1 were full of excitement this week as they began their brand-new English text! To spark their curiosity, the children followed a trail of clues to predict the theme of their book. After exploring snowy scenes, listening to atmospheric music, and discovering objects like a carrot, scarf, hat, and coal, they finally uncovered the mystery — they were going to be sharing The Snowman . This week, the children have enjoyed retelling the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears .They sequenced the main events, practised retelling the story orally, and then had a go at writing their own versions. It was wonderful to see their creativity and growing confidence as storytellers!

Year 5 have had a wonderful week in school. They have enjoyed learning the hand jive in dance lessons and were fantastic movers. In English, they have updated their case notes and written some fantastic persuasive paragraphs. Our weekly Celebration of the Word was planned and led by a group of children featuring The Prodigal Son.

In Dance, Year have worked brilliantly in pairs to create an 'action and reaction' segment to their 'Spy Dance'

Reception Class worked really hard on their 'Start with Art' this afternoon. We used Vincent Van Gough's 'The Starry Night' as our stimulus for our own whiteboard creations.

Today in PE, our Year 1 children practised their ball skills, with a special focus on sending and receiving. We talked about how to throw a ball carefully, how to roll it to a partner, and how to use “soft hands” when catching. The children worked in pairs and small groups, taking turns to roll, bounce, and gently throw the ball to each other. A group of children in Year 5 led this week's Celebration of the Word. They chose to read scripture from John's Gospel - The Wedding at Cana. This linked to the theme of joy and with a beautiful hymn to end it was a lovely celebration. In English this week, we have continued our work based on the marvellous book 'The Lizzie and Belle Mystery'. The children have written character profiles with looks of fabulous vocabulary.

Reception Class had a great time exploring the snow in the outdoor classroom, this morning!

Year 6 have been learning about the circulatory system in as part of their science topic this half term. Today they have learned about the heart in more detail. They have worked well to make their own model heart out of paper and labelled the parts.

We worked on patch and point balances in our gymnastics lesson today. We tried to control our balance by tightening our muscles and focusing on maintaining our shape. We put our balance skills to the test using the apparatus.

Year 4 reminded us about the importance of forgiveness during their Celebration of the Word.
