This week. Year 4 have been using their inference skills to make predictions about the little girl in our story - The Crown. As part of World Book Day, they enjoyed a BBC Live Lesson and had great fun finding as many book characters as they could in a picture activity.

Year 5 have had a very busy and productive week at school. The children thoroughly enjoyed working towards their Stage Two Bikeability award , where they had the opportunity to learn how to ride their bikes safely on the road. With the support and guidance of the instructors, the children practised a range of important cycling skills, including road positioning, signalling, and staying aware of their surroundings. We have looked at how Stone Age people used artwork to tell us what their lives were like and depict the things that were important to them. This week, Year 2 proudly completed their Art unit using clay. Throughout this topic, the children have been developing a range of sculpting skills and techniques, and they had the opportunity to bring all of their learning together in a final piece. The children were challenged to design and create a 3D clay tile of a house. Luke did an amazing job speaking to his Year 6 classmates about Chinese New Year! He shared lots of interesting traditions, showed videos of the celebrations, and explained how his own family celebrates. It was great to learn all about it — especially when he kindly brought in red packets for everyone to take home. Thank you, Luke, for such a thoughtful and informative talk!

Year 4 have had a fantastic first week back at school. They have continued working on their mini-books and have started their new English unit - The Crown.

Year 5 have had another brilliant week at school! To launch our new History topic, we began by exploring the fascinating timeline of British history. Working in groups, the children were each given a different time period to research before confidently presenting their findings to the class. We then brought all of our learning together by creating an impressive class timeline in the form of a giant jigsaw. It was fantastic to see how each piece connected, helping us understan

Year 3 have been working hard in their DT lessons and we have completed our cushion designs. We used cross and running stitch to appliqué patches to our designs and stitch the parts together. We are thrilled with the results!

Today, Year 3 became archaeologists to help us use our inference skills to find out more about our new English text, ‘Escape from Pompeii’ by Christine Bait.  We used the clues we found in our archaeological digs to help us work out where and when the book was set and predict what might happen. We can’t wait to find out more about the city of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius.

This week, Year 2 have been busy developing their scientific skills by predicting and investigating different materials to find out whether they are transparent, translucent or opaque. 🔦 Before testing, the children carefully discussed their ideas and made thoughtful predictions about what might happen when light was shone through each material. Year 4 have had yet another incredibly busy week this week! In French, they have started their own 'mini books', which they are very excited about and , in Choir, they learnt a Pancake Rap, with Miss Hurley.

Year 5 have had an absolutely brilliant week in school, packed full of exciting learning and fantastic achievements. In Science, the children have been exploring materials and their properties. They have investigated which materials are flexible, waterproof, absorbent and durable, and have enjoyed carrying out a range of brilliant experiments to test their ideas. We loved our session ‘Brain Buddies’ with Jenny from the RISE project this afternoon. We talked about our brain buddy, the part of our brain that talks to us when we feel positive and good about ourselves. We also acknowledged our ‘brain bully’ and how that might impact how we feel about ourselves sometimes. Over the coming weeks, we will be looking at different strategies to help us listen more to our brain buddies and regulate any uncomfortable feelings.

Year 3 have made so much progress in French this year. Today, we consolidated our understanding of the colours in French using a fantastic song all about a chameleon called Leon.  We had a brilliant final T1 rugby session with Gavin. We played a mini tournament to prepare us for the inter schools competition after half term.

Year 3 enjoyed their team games session with the Newcastle PE Service this morning. We worked on our team building skills-focusing on communication, support and encouragement.

What a wonderful week in Year 2! In their RHE lessons, Year 3 took a closer look at the media and the influence it can have on all of us. We know that not everything we see in the media is always true and that sometimes social media can show the "highlights" of life, not the reality.
