Year 1 have had another fantastic and very busy week of learning!

🔢 In Maths, the children have been working hard to extend their number knowledge and develop their confidence when counting. They have enjoyed using different strategies and resources to help them explore numbers and show what they know.

📚 In English, Year 1 have continued their work based on Cave Baby. This week, they have been challenging themselves to extend their written work by writing sentences about the different animals from the story. We have been so impressed with their growing confidence as writers!

🙏 In RE, the children have continued to explore Creation, thinking about the wonderful world God has made. They learned more about the Nicene Creed and reflected on what Christians believe about God as Creator. The children then expressed their ideas creatively by producing some beautiful Creation artwork and working together to create their very own Year 1 Creation Class Creed.

This week also saw a group of children plan and lead their first Celebration of the Word in class. With a focus on Creation, they carefully planned a special time for the class to gather together, listen to Scripture, reflect and pray. It was a lovely opportunity for the children to begin taking an active role in leading the prayer life of their class. 🙏🌎

🐸 In PE, Year 1 have continued to develop their fundamental movement skills. They have been working hard on moving, jumping and controlling their bodies while having lots of fun along the way!

🗳️ There was also great excitement as Year 1 held their Class Council Elections! The children who wanted to represent the class on the School Council, Wellbeing Council, Sports Council or Eco Council had the opportunity to explain why they would make a great councillor. We were treated to some amazing speeches, colourful posters and fantastic drawings. Everyone showed lots of confidence and courage when sharing their ideas with the class.
