Year 5 enjoyed creating acrostic poems in RE this week. They have been learning about Lent, discussing the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ and exploring words linked to this special time in the Church’s liturgical year. The children used these ideas to create thoughtful poems about how we, as Christians, try to live like Jesus.

To continue their Pre-historic Art topic, today Year 3 looked at how Stone Age man would have created their colour in their art work. We used natural materials to mimic the colour palettes used and create our own paints that we will use in our final piece of work.

Today, Year 1 took part in their Lenten challenge to Plant and Pray . They planted their seeds and reflected on how kindness, patience and faith can help them grow into the best versions of themselves. After planting their seeds, the children decided what they will try to do during Lent, such as praying each day, helping at home and spreading kindness to others. We have enjoyed exploring light in our Science lesson. We investigated how light helps us to see and discovered more about different light sources through hands-on activities. The class showed great curiosity and enthusiasm as they explored and shared ideas.

Year 1 stepped into the role of parishioners who had gathered for a Parish BBQ in their RE lesson. They thought carefully about what people might be saying and thinking, before working together to create a wonderful class picture. For World Book Day this year, we invited all pupils to take part in a special competition inspired by The Places You’ll Go . Children were challenged to take a photograph of themselves reading in the most unusual place they could think of! This week in PE , we continued our stretch and balance  unit. We have been learning how to maintain a steady balance and transition smoothly from one stretch to the next. This week. Year 4 have been using their inference skills to make predictions about the little girl in our story - The Crown. As part of World Book Day, they enjoyed a BBC Live Lesson and had great fun finding as many book characters as they could in a picture activity.

A group of our Year 4 pupils led their peers in a beautiful Celebration of the Word based on the theme of forgiveness. They spoke confidently, shared thoughtful reflections and helped everyone take time to think about the importance of saying sorry and forgiving others. Well done to all involved for leading such a meaningful moment of prayer and reflection.

Year 1 were delighted to worship with their families today as they celebrated the end of their RE unit on Meals. The children prayed, sang and read beautifully, sharing what they have learned throughout the topic. The Celebration of the Word ended with a wonderful liturgical movement to the Lord’s Prayer using BSL, which was a very special moment for everyone who attended. Well done, Year 1!

Year 5 have had a very busy and productive week at school. The children thoroughly enjoyed working towards their Stage Two Bikeability award , where they had the opportunity to learn how to ride their bikes safely on the road. Today in our Faith in Action session, Gerard and Jo worked with the children to reflect on Bishop Stephen Wright’s message from yesterday’s Mass. This week, Year 2 proudly completed their Art unit using clay. Throughout this topic, the children have been developing a range of sculpting skills and techniques, and they had the opportunity to bring all of their learning together in a final piece. Luke did an amazing job speaking to his Year 6 classmates about Chinese New Year!
