Today in PE, our Year 1 children practised their ball skills, with a special focus on sending and receiving. We talked about how to throw a ball carefully, how to roll it to a partner, and how to use “soft hands” when catching. The children worked in pairs and small groups, taking turns to roll, bounce, and gently throw the ball to each other. A group of children in Year 5 led this week's Celebration of the Word. They chose to read scripture from John's Gospel - The Wedding at Cana. This linked to the theme of joy and with a beautiful hymn to end it was a lovely celebration. In English this week, we have continued our work based on the marvellous book 'The Lizzie and Belle Mystery'. The children have written character profiles with looks of fabulous vocabulary.

Wednesday 19th November 2025
Year 6 have been learning about the circulatory system in as part of their science topic this half term. Today they have learned about the heart in more detail. They have worked well to make their own model heart out of paper and labelled the parts.

We worked on patch and point balances in our gymnastics lesson today. We tried to control our balance by tightening our muscles and focusing on maintaining our shape. We put our balance skills to the test using the apparatus.

Monday 17th November 2025
This morning, we began our new English unit of work based around Roald Dahl's 'The BFG'. We look closely at character description and setting and then adapted and improved sentences using different word classes. This afternoon, we enjoyed 'tinkering' with Scratch this afternoon as a way to re-familiarise ourselves with the software before we explore it further in our programming unit of work.

Monday 17th November 2025
As part of their work on Judaism, Year 5 created Mezuzahs as they have been learning about the importance of the Shema prayer. They have enjoyed learning all about Jewish celebrations and asked some very thoughtful questions. In PE this term, we have been creating dance routines linked to the theme 'dance by chance'. Remembrance Day-Tuesday 11th November 2025
Children took part in a thoughtful Remembrance Day reflection led by Mrs Mooney. The whole school gathered to remember and honour those who gave their lives in service. The children showed great reverence and respect as they observed the minute’s silence, wearing their poppies with pride. We have been exploring Ancient Egyptian art work this week. We created texture to imitate the papyrus paper the Egyptians would have used and studied patterns, colours and shapes closely to create an inspiration board to use throughout our topic.

During their visit, the children explored the wide range of toys for sale, taking the time to look closely at how they are made and what materials have been used. Tuesday 11th November 2025
Today, Year 1 took part in our school’s Remembrance Service, led by Mrs Mooney. The children joined the rest of the school community in observing the two-minute silence, showing great respect as we remembered those who lost their lives in wars and conflicts. We have loved creating our own fantasy narratives based on Angela McAllister's fantastic book, 'Leon and the Place Between'. This week, Year 2 have been busy learning and exploring across all subjects! In Maths , the children have been counting in 2s, 5s, and 10s, growing in confidence with their number patterns.
